Newyork Mining disaster was the title of a song performed by Bee Gees. And there was never a tragic event like this. They just made that up. Anyway Murakami borrowed and used it beautifully. As always, the characters in this story were strange and weird. And,for the record, I enjoyed this story as much as the other short stories of Murakami.
